Taylor and his wife Harriet Wilson Taylor; correspondence (including family members, friends and associates) and administrative correspondence (faculty, department heads, students, and other historical black institutions); one completed draft copy of "The History of Fisk University, 1953"; another handwritten copy of the same title by an early faculty member, Henrietta Matson; and a document pertaining to a Fisk University exhibit at the American Negro Exposition in 1940, in Chicago, Ill. The bulk of the collected materials consist of articles, addresses, documents, programs, pamphlets, and research resources relating to Reconstruction in the South, including articles, addresses, chapters from books, speeches, information on the black church and black theology, statutes and documents. There is also a small collection of material pertaining to Taylor's second wife Catherine Buchanan Taylor (1939-1948).
