A self-taught photographer, Riggall's images were a lure for a fledgling tourism industry, the eyes of change for an emerging conservation movement. Leaving an impressive archival record of more than 14,000 photographs, records, diaries, maps and letters, the Riggall archives are considered to be of "outstanding significance and national importance" by the Cultural Property Export Review Board.
