Indianola Avenue Corridor Study Polk County, City of Des Moines from East Army Post Road to SE 14th Street by Snyder & Associates PDF Summary

Book Description: Indianola Avenue follows a route that appears on plat maps as early as 1872. Today, the corridor is a commuter route in the Des Moines transportation network, particularly a route between downtown and the developing Easter Lake New Town area. The Des Moines City Council has commissioned a corridor study and Environmental Assessment to develop a functional plan to accommodate future traffic demand. The existing pavement consists of 1950's portland cement concrete and subsequent overlays completed as recently as 1989. Over the years, land use has changed from farm-to-market traffic to daily commuter traffic, and traffic volumes have increased from 5,500 vehicles per day (vpd) in 1996 to 6,400 vpd in 2000, and to 10,700 vpd in 2005.
