Supplies for the winter months, in 1965 amounting to a value of about $50 million. A major part of these Mexican exports are in tomatoes, which accounted for about 60 percent of the total value in 1965. The $29-million value of tomato imports from Mexico in 1965 equalled that of the us. Winter crop, produced mostly in Florida. However, some of the Mexican tomatoes imported compete instead with the early part of the us. Spring crop, which in 1965 was valued at $45 million. The author has made periodic surveys of the Mexican winter vegetable industry since 1956 - the last one in February 1966.
