Book Description: Autograph of Lynch (removed from original document) accompanied by correspondence between E[rwin] L[ester] Inabinett, director of the South Caroliniana Library, and Joseph E[dward] Fields, M.D., the donor of the artifact, dated 28 December 1959-19 January 1960, discussing its rarity, provenance, and preservation. Fields suggests "laminating the signature according to the method of Mr. W[illia]m J. Barrows of the Virginia State Library would be the best method of preservation." Also accompanied by a press release about the artifact, written by David E. Abeel and issued by the University of South Carolina, 15 February 1960.
