Book Description: The papers of James M. Dubik span the years 1988-2008, with the bulk of the material concentrated in 2000. This collection highlights Dubik's numerous leadership and command positions including his tours of duty in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iraq, as well as his work during the Army transformation to brigade combat teams. The papers are arranged in three series: official correspondence, official papers, and speeches. The official correspondence series, dated 4 January 2000-18 April 2001, is arranged chronologically and consists almost entirely of printouts of emails from January to July 2000 while Dubik was serving as deputy commanding general for transformation. The emails are grouped by month in reverse chronological order with emails received preceding emails sent. There are two letters following the emails dated 16 and 18 April 2001. The official papers series, circa May 1988-29 September 2003, is arranged chronologically by Dubik's leadership and command assignments. The series includes "hip pocket smart books"--his notebooks from Bosnia while he was assistant division commander, 1st Cavalry Division. Also included are notebooks kept during the stand-up of 1st Initial Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) and notebooks maintained while director for joint experimentation, J-9, Joint Forces Command. Materials also include annotated field manuals, briefings and presentations, printouts of electronic office files, memorandums, and reports. The speeches series, circa 1988-1 September 2008, is arranged chronologically and includes outlines, note cards, and texts of speeches given by Dubik.
