Book Description: Asa McFarland Abbott was born on 16 November 1820 in Hartland, Windsor County, Vermont and died on 8 April 1889 in Chicago, Illinois. He married Sarah Sperry, daughter of Joy Sperry and Mary LaMonte, on 6 December 1846 in Oquawka, Illinois. She was born on 22 February 1822 near the village of Mecca in Trumbull, Ohio and died on 12 May 1900 in Ustick, Whiteside County, Illinois. Both are buried in Cottonwood cemetery in Ustick. In 1839, Sarah's family had relocated to LaHarp, Illinois where she, her younger siblings and parents joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Sarah's parents and five of her siblings later participated in the trek to Utah. Ancestors and descendants have resided primarily in England, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Illinois and Utah.
